Welcome to Baldo’s new blog

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Well, we’re starting to make a little headway here, we’ve got a few weeks of strips pre loaded and we’re slowly picking up steam. We invite you guys to go ahead and make comments and become part of the dialog here just as you were at the old site, DON’T BE SHY. It’s a great way for you to start getting to know each a bit.

Suggestions, complaints, likes, dislikes, props, shout outs… they’re all welcome here. If you’ve got nothing to say, then just introduce yourself for goodness sake. Pretend you’re at a party.

Not welcome are spam, hateful behavior and porno links and the like, this is after all a family friendly environment.

Porno links should be emailed directly to Hector.

Enjoy.

N.C. Here I Come… Again

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Well, I’m off to my working vacation up in our cabin in N.C. again this summer. I can’t wait, I love it up there. Overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains from our rear deck, the cool temperature, the wild life, hiking, water rafting and fishing. It’s a nice change of pace from the Florida heat and humidity. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a beach bum at heart, a real parrot head, but the change is a welcome relief. I’ll post pictures to my Flickr account and have a link here to share with you guys. In the meantime, if you hadn’t seen it before, here’s a short video from last years 4th of July party in N.C. along the New River.

Happy Fourth of July

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Just a quick wish for a very happy and safe fourth of July weekend to all our readers. Also, a huge shout out and heartfelt appreciation to all of our servicemen/women and their families who sacrifice so much.

Cheers, happy fourth.

Back in the saddle

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Hey guys, I’m back in the studio again after a nice vacation in N.C. Man, what a great time we had up there. We made some new friends and hooked up with some from last year. The weather was fantastic and it was awesome to spend so much time outdoors.

On the way up to the cabin I had the opportunity to meet face to face with Brian Dunaway in S.C., for those of you who don’t know, Brian is co-host and producer of Comics coast to coast. If you’ve never listened to their web radio show before, you gotta check them out, they’re really very talented, funny guys that also draw and write their own web strips. Brian interviewed me last year for the show and we’ve become fast friends since, so it was nice to finally meet him and his wife Suzanne. Get this, we met at a Quizno’s near his house for lunch. I’m guessing he doesn’t want me to know where he lives. Thanks for the warm southern hospitality, pal. ; )

Anyway, you can check out a few of my pics I set aside to share with you on Flickr. More to be posted soon. You could also check out this video I shot of a few of the kids (including mine) who were skateboarding down a large hill in front of our cabin. Yeah, I know. No protective gear whatsoever. Bad parenting.

Oh, I almost forgot. If you’re on Facebook and want to add me as a friend you can send me a friend request here, in the message area just let me know you’re a reader of the strip and are coming from the blog.

Well, catch you back here in a few days. Have a great weekend.

Take our survey, please.

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Hey guys, thanks for dropping by and visiting us again. Now, we know you folks are busy stealthfully checking email, surfing the web and chatting with friends and family while you’re at work… on break of course. We here at Baldo Inc. were hoping you could take a few seconds and fill out a really, really short survey for us. You, know… seeing as how we do so much for you and all.

If you already took the survey that appeared on the pop-up window, cool, thanks a ton. If you closed the window and didn’t take the survey Click Here to take survey

Who knows, there may be something in it for a lucky survey participant. I’m not promising, I’m just saying…

Thanks in advance.
Carlos

We’d like to thank everyone who participated in our survey, we appreciate the time and effort.

The survey was conducted with 150 participants, and while most the results weren’t completely surprising to us, one in particular stands out to me. Most voted Tía Carmen 24% to Gracie 16% as a favorite character with Baldo not (more…)

Crickets, Carlos & Comic Marketing 2.0 On Comics Coast to Coast podcast

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Well, Brian over at Comics Coast to Coast called me up and had me on the show again. My being on the show was a last minute decision as the scheduled guest had to pull a no show, but we had a blast as usual and had great fun. We tried to touch on some marketing stuff, and even managed to drag Justin into the land of twitter. If you have no clue what I’m talking about, you need to tune in, these guys are a riot. And the crickets were pretty awesome too.

Auto Y Rod, what’s in a name?

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

We get a lot of email about ‘Auto Y Rod’, the name of the auto parts store where Baldo works. Here’s the latest inquire from one of our readers. Megan writes:

“Why is the store called Auto Y Rod? Did Mr. Rod have a partner named Auto at one point and the “y” is “and”? Is his name Auto Y. Rod? Is it a play on words (Auto Y Rod, Inc = Autoerotic, is the one my husband has suggested)? We cannot figure it out and it drives me nuts. Can you help?!”
